- Arkansas Public Schools
- All fees for this institute for about 125 teachers will be covered for all AP and Pre-AP public school teachers in Arkansas who have not attended an APSI in their desired subject area before. You do not need to send purchase orders or checks. We will take care of the billing. If there is additional funding after March 1, Arkansas AP and Pre-AP public teachers who have attended before will be eligible for any remaining state funds starting in order with those who registered first and for whom it has been 5 years or longer since attending an institute.
For the summer 2010, the state of Arkansas will only pay for Arkansas public school Pre-AP and AP teacher attendance at either the University of Arkansas at Little Rock APSI in Hot Springs, the University of Arkansas APSI in Fayetteville, or Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Although a teacher may choose to attend an APSI outside of Arkansas, the state of Arkansas will not cover any costs for Arkansas public school Pre-AP and AP teacher attendance at any APSI outside of Arkansas.
If you do not qualify for Arkansas state funding, and your school is willing to pay for you to attend, please send a P.O. from your school. The PO form should be faxed to Terry Garrity at 479-575-8739--please be sure to write the teacher(s) name on the purchase order.
- Oklahoma Public Schools
- For 2010, all Oklahoma teachers must obtain written permission from the Oklahoma State Department of Education (Ph: 405-521-4287) before registering. We MUST receive a copy of the confirmation BEFORE you can be registered. All fees for materials and conference training and activities (not including course credit) for this College Board approved Summer Institute are reimbursed by the state of Oklahoma. Oklahoma public school AP and Pre-AP teachers do not need to send any payment. We will bill the state of Oklahoma after the institute. You do not need to send purchase orders or checks.
If you are not approved by the State of Oklahoma to attend our institute, and your school is willing to pay for you to attend, please send a P.O. from your school and a brief memo on letterhead from your principal or AP Coordinator, stating that they are willing to pay for you to attend our APSI. The purchase order should be faxed to Terry Garrity at 479-575-8739--be sure to write the teacher(s) name on the purchase order.
AP and Pre-AP public school teachers from Oklahoma may register for any in-state College Board endorsed AP Summer Institute. Teachers wishing to attend an out-of-state AP Summer Institute must apply. The application form is available on the Oklahoma State Department of Education website and from the College Board Regional Office in Austin. Approval notices will be sent to the applicant and the appropriate AP Summer Institute Director. Oklahoma will not pay for Oklahomans attending out-of-state AP Summer Institutes without approval. Once approval is granted, teachers wishing to attend a summer institute simply register with the institute and indicate on the form in the area of payment “Bill Oklahoma.” The billing process will be through the College Board for non-Oklahoma AP Summer Institutes. Oklahoma AP Summer Institutes work directly with the Oklahoma State Department of Education. If you have questions about this procedure, please call the College Board’s Southwestern Regional Office, rather than the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
- Texas Public Schools
- Participants from Texas must complete a form and return it to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) so that their schools will be reimbursed. Texas School Districts must send full payment to us prior to the APSI. In order for a teacher to be eligible for reimbursement, the TEA requires that the teacher must attend a Pre-AP or AP five day summer institute; must be a 9th-12th grade teacher in a Texas public school; and must teach a Pre-AP or AP course in the 2010-2011 school year.
Texas funds the attendance of public school AP teachers and Pre-AP teachers (ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade) at AP Summer Institutes endorsed by the College Board and does so through reimbursement to school districts. Please note: the Texas Education Agency will not make reimbursement checks payable to individuals or to schools; TEA will pay only school districts.
- New Mexico
- AP-New Mexico provides a tuition-free Advanced Placement Summer Institute for New Mexico teachers in Albuquerque. Attendance at out-of-state institutes will be approved only if the subject needed by the participant is not offered in New Mexico.
- All private schools and those not in the tri-state region (AR, OK, TX)
- Participants must send full payment to us prior to the APSI. Registration will not be fully confirmed unless payment is received. A purchase order from your school or a credit card number will work until payment is received. Please make checks payable to: the University of Arkansas.
