College Board Fellows

AR, NM, OK, and TX AP teachers are eligible for 2008 College Board Fellows awards, although preference may be given to applicants from states without an AP Incentive Program. Pre-AP teachers are not eligible for College Board Fellows awards. A College Board Fellows award is $1000. College Board Fellows awards are intended to cover the costs associated with attending an endorsed AP Summer Institute. The AP teacher will notify the institute that they have been selected as a CB Fellow to attend that institute. Half of the money will be sent to the designated AP Summer Institute and half will be sent to the CB Fellow. Any additional costs are the responsibility of the recipient. Southwestern Region AP teachers who have been awarded a College Board Fellows award are NOT eligible for state AP Summer Institute Reimbursement funds.

The College Board Pre-AP Fellows Program will provide grants for AP Vertical TeamsŪ to attend specified Pre-AP Summer Institutes from schools in economically disadvantaged areas with few or no AP courses. Grants of $10,000 each will be awarded to AP Vertical Teams who best satisfy the eligibility requirements.

The College Board AP Fellows program is an annual competitive grant program that provides stipends for secondary school teachers planning to teach AP courses in schools that serve minority and/or low income students who have been traditionally underrepresented in AP courses. The stipends assist teachers with the cost of attending an AP Summer Institute. To qualify, a school must have: 50 percent or more traditionally underrepresented minority students (African American, Hispanic, or Native American), and/or 50 percent or more students whose average family income level is equivalent to, or below, the national annual average for a low-income family of four (approximately $31,000).
